Handspun, handwoven Kala Cotton from Kutch, cut and sewn in our Guelph studio.

Kala Cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) is a short-staple, rainfed variety grown without irrigation in the arid grasslands of eastern Kutch. This liner is handspun and handwoven in a windowpane check, sized for a cheese board or charcuterie tray. The textured nature of this handmade cloth and the open grid handwoven into it catch light differently than a solid weave.

Use it under a board at the table, or on a board as a charcuterie liner, or as a small runner beneath glasses and a decanter. Kala cotton softens and takes on character with use and washing.
