Kala Cotton & Patanwadi Wool French Press Cosy in Coffee & Cream
A cosy built the way it should be: three layers, each chosen for what it does.
The outer is Patanwadi wool in a natural coffee-and-cream palette - no dye, just the fleece’s own colour. It’s handspun by Rabari women and handwoven in the workshop of Jentilal Bokhani, a maker we’ve worked with since 2017. Inside, a lining of Kala cotton (Gossypium herbaceum), grown rainfed with no chemical inputs in the arid grasslands of northern Kutch, then handspun and handwoven by artisans we’ve known for close to a decade. Between them, loose Dorset wool from Ontario’s own pastures does the quiet work of holding heat.
The result keeps a full press warm while you get to the second cup. It’s a small object that carries a long story — Gujarat to Ontario, fleece to cloth to the table.
Designed and made by hand in Canada. Fits 8-cup press.
Care:
Spot clean with a damp cloth. If needed, hand wash cool with a wool-safe detergent and dry flat, away from direct heat. Do not wring. Natural fibres and undyed wool may vary slightly in tone from piece to piece - part of how you know it’s real.
