The Kala Cotton Pillow Cover is part of the Rann Collection - textiles from Kutch, Gujarat, where Kala Cotton grows on rainfall alone in the drylands of Rapar and Bhachau. This is an heirloom, indigenous cotton: a short-staple fibre that industrial mills reject and only human hands can work. The handspun yarn gives the cloth its slight irregularity and dry, structured hand.

Handwoven in a fine herringbone in unbleached white, a pattern that reads as linen from across a room but reveals a softer hand up close. Finished with ties. Front panel hand quilted with Dorset sheep wool from Revolution Wool Company, Ontario. Two fibre terroirs in one pillow

A note on care:

  • Spot clean and air dry to reduce the need to wash
  • When you do wash, wash separately
  • pH neutral detergent: Avoid bleach, baking soda, enzyme detergent
  • Cold water only
  • Dry flat in shade / away from direct sun: Sun may cause fading of natural dye; dryer may damage natural fibres and dyes
  • Store away from light, folded in cotton, never in plastic
Care
Cold water, mild detergent, Gentle cycle. Air drying extends life. Low heat tumble dry if needed. No bleach. No softener.
