RAINFED · Eastern Kutch · No irrigation

Kala Cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) is a rainfed, indigenous variety from Kutch, Gujarat. Handspun and handwoven in Shinay Vishal's studio into a textured herringbone of ink and unbleached white: a broken twill whose diagonal shifts with the light down the length of a table.

The pattern reads as a soft, textured blue across a room and reveals its zigzag up close.
