Kala Cotton (Gossypium herbaceum) is a rainfed variety indigenous to Kutch, Gujarat. Handspun and handwoven in Shinay Vishal’s studio in Kutch, Gujarat into a textured herringbone of ink and in bleached white: a broken twill whose diagonal shifts with the light down the length of a table.
The pattern reads as a soft, textured blue across a room and reveals its zigzag up close.
